Propaganda Poster

This piece is a propaganda poster, that includes elements of illuminated manuscripts. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with both, Propaganda is used to "propagate" an idea or message be it political, social or whatever. Many of us have seen propaganda used in its hateful form, like the forms that the U.S.S.R. and The Third Reich used. This piece is not that. As for illuminated manuscripts, they were highly decorated pages or covers for holy texts. For example, a monk may have spent years "illuminating" a manuscript. These covers tended to be very, very ornate and decorative with very fancy writing. IE the book of Kells.

My piece is encouraging people who want more consumption in their lives, to watch more television. Now I personally, wouldn't do this, but it is more of a commentary on the instant gratification, over consumption the US is infamous for. To include the manuscript aspect, you will see floral decorative patterns throughout the piece adding texture to the flat tones of propaganda. This piece took a very long time, hope you enjoy!!
