Absolutely one of a kind, Pheelip2010's Octopus' Garden is an extraordinary example of that amazing rarity in the Fractal Gallery, a traditional media fractal. Seeded with natural fractal types, beautifully composed, intensely detailed, and entirely drawn by hand. Perfection! ( Featured by NatalieKelsey )

I love how you balanced the mostly darker left side with the lighter right side, and went over the border. I'm such a math nerd, and Cantor's star is one of my favourite fractals, along with the Fibonacci spiral, which you actually kind of have in there too! The fact that you were able to throw in natural elements along with the traditional fractals, and make it look simply like an abstract design is just phenomenal. Kudos, and I know many people who would definitely buy this!!

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, one of the main principles of fractals is repetition and I definitely included that. There is also a very high level of self similarity worked in there as well. The going over the border thing was a result of both the repeating pattern and nice clean edge. I wanted for the pattern to continue regardless of the border, that adds an even greater sense of depth. The star you are referring to is actually the Koch snowflake; a continually repeating equilateral triangle :). The cantor set is the repeating spheres in the center right of the piece. They keep dividing ad infinium. Thank you very much for such a nice statement about the work, it feels great to have some recognition! By all means point any potential buyers to this link, feel free!

I stand corrected :) I always confuse the Koch star and the Cantor set for some reason.. Well this is definitely one of my favourite favourites! It really makes you think about how there are so many naturally occurring things like this all over the place. You are most welcome, and I will definitely keep this in mind. I'd buy it myself in a heartbeat if I had the money!

Hi this is Alison and holy ohmygod I can't believe the detail in this. I saw the workshop at like a halfway point, I had no idea how intense it got. Can't believe you're selling it, I'd have trouble parting. :)

You gonna come in and brag to Amy? Cause you definitely should haha. (We're in the living center studio if you didn't already know) The DD is well deserved!!

I'm gonna gape at this for a while now.

Hey Alison. Thanks a lot! Depth was a primary goal in this one, It was pretty tough to get the right balance of depth and detail without overwhelming people. And yeah I'm selling it! I need money, and Yes I will miss it, but it needs a good home! I definitely should brag to Amy and say, "Something made in your class was on the front page of deviantart!!" Thanks for stopping by and feel free to gape as long as you want!
